I’m a little obsessed with APIs.
They are fun to work with, especially for personal projects.
Here’s a list of fun, free, publically available API’s that I’ve been eyeing for potential new projects.

- TheCocktailDB – An open, crowd-sourced database of drinks and cocktails from around the world.
- Deck of Cards – An API where you can query, shuffle and deal decks of cards.
- Dog API – The internet’s biggest collection of open source dog pictures.
- Foursquare Places API – Get flexible access to global POI data and rich content from over 100K trusted sources and driven by millions of consumers.
- GIPHY API – Ready to bring the engaging power of GIFs to your app through GIPHY?
- NASA APIs – Multiple APIs available for use, including Mars Rover Photos.
- OMDb API – The Open Movie Database (OMDb) API is a RESTful web service to obtain movie information, all content and images on the site are contributed and maintained by our users.
- Open Emoji API – A free emoji API sourced directly from unicode.org – always up to date. _Currently under development._
- PokéAPI – All the Pokémon data you’ll ever need in one place, easily accessible through a modern RESTful API.
- STAPI – A Star Trek API. It’s an open source project, that anyone can contribute to.
- SWAPI – The Star Wars API
- Tropical Fruit and Veg – The tropicalfruitandveg.com API provides a quick simple way to integrate information on tropicalfruitandveg.com within your own website or within a mobile application.
